I am a certified Reiki Master through the Usui Reiki tradition and have been practicing reiki and energy work for over 10 years. As I have studied and practiced many forms of energy work, I have learned there are many paths, yet only one truth. I now incorporate all modalities and tools, using an intuitive approach, to best serve each individual client and situation.
I offer remote reiki healing sessions and limited in-person sessions in the Asheville, North Carolina area. Sessions are equally powerful whether receiving an in-person or remote session as distance does not impact the results.
What is Reiki?
Reiki is an ancient healing modality that involves channeling positive energy of light and love to the receiver from a state of oneness with all that is. This energy has its own innate wisdom and will go wherever it is most needed by the receiver.
Reiki has been used to treat a wide variety of conditions since the early 1900’s (and possibly even as early as the 1800’s in Japan). Reiki is a recognized healing modality within the medical community and is practiced in hospitals, holistic healing centers, medical centers and even recognized by some health insurance companies although it can be difficult to get coverage. Most treatments are paid out of pocket unless performed by a nurse or registered health care professional. Reiki has been used to treat a wide variety of conditions since the early 1900’s (and possibly even earlier in Japan). Many benefits have been reported.

If you are familiar with acupuncture, you can use this as a comparable modality in the sense that it helps align the energy in the body including removing energetic blockages and creating balance and a healthy energetic flow. If you are familiar with prayer, and believe that prayer can make an impact, there are also some similarities in the sense that you are setting an intention and connecting to a higher power to help with your intention.
This type of healing work, as all healing modalities I practice, honors all belief systems and does not follow one specific belief system or religion. You can refer to higher consciousness or energy as god, life force, the universe, light, or whatever resonates with you. When working with universal consciousness and divine energy, time and space location are also not important. The most important factors are your intention, and an openness and willingness to receive. How To Prepare for A Remote Reiki Session?
When receiving a remote reiki session, it’s suggested to create a peaceful healing space before the session begins. Imagine the ideal atmosphere to be comparable to going to get a relaxing spa service (fully clothed), the end of a yoga class (shavasana) or a sacred place you’d go to meditate. I suggest creating a beautiful and relaxing environment either inside or even outside in a quiet space, if that is enjoyable to you. If you’ll be inside, I’d suggest clearing the energy in your space by burning palo santo, sage or incense. Then, you may want to turn on an essential oil diffuser, if you have one, and light a candle. If you have any crystals or other items that are special to you, you can get them out and create a healing alter.
A healing alter can be whatever you’d like it to be. You could lay out a scarf or blanket on the floor and perhaps you could arrange flowers, candles, crystals, a piece of paper with your intention for your session written on it, or anything else you’d like. You can’t do it wrong so just get creative. It can be as simple or as elaborate as you’d like it to be. I also suggest having a journal and maybe some colorful pens or markers to make journaling extra enjoyable. If you live with family or roommates, be sure to let them know not to interrupt you during the time of your session.
I will share an invocation or prayer to say at the start of a session. Then during the session, I suggest sitting in a comfortable position, so that you don’t fall asleep, and entering a meditative type state. You can play gentle relaxing music in the background and focus on your breathing throughout the session. I also suggest paying attention to your body, any sensations, feelings, tightness, thoughts or anything that arises during or after a session. Just stay present to your experience and continue breathing deeply. At the end of your session time, I suggest journaling about your experience.
